Why I am qualified to teach
Citizenship in the World*
Prerequisites for this Activity

For Citizenship in the World at the Cherokee District Fall 2015 Advance A Rama.

To receive credit for requirements listed below, Scouts are required to actively discuss the topic identified below for these requirements during the class. All other requirements will be covered in class.

Requirement 3A - Do the following: Pick a current world event. In relation to this current event, discuss with your counselor how a country's national interest and its relationship with other countries might affect areas such as its security, its economy, its values, and the health of its citizens. For this requirement we will be discussing Iran, Oil, and the Straight of Hormuz. Do a search with Google or your favorite browser. Open, read, print, and bring to class information you find from 3 or 4 of the first 12 links.

Requirement 3B - Do the following: Select a foreign country and discuss with your counselor how its geography, natural resources, and climate influence its economy and its global partnerships with other countries.

For this requiement choose either Nigeria or Panama to research. We will have a UGA student and Alpha Phi Omega brother who was born in and grew up in Nigeria helping teach our class.. We will also have a returned Peace Corps volunteer who spent 2 1/2 years in Panama assisting in the class. He is an Eagle Scout.

Requirement 4 requires that you complete 2 of the items listed. Requirement 4a will be covered in class. Requirement 4C is a prerequisite.

Requirement 7a Visit the website of the U.S. State Department http://www.state.gov  Learn more about an issue you find interesting that is discussed on this website.
